
Patricia (Patsy) Toop OAM LLB BEc Dip. Building

Patsy commenced her legal career with Holding Redlich in 1980 and became a partner in 1985. Her practice was in the area of personal injury with a focus on working with the Building Unions. In order to increase her knowledge of the building industry, Patsy returned to school and successfully qualified as a Building Inspector. This knowledge and experience has proven invaluable in building industry related accident cases.
Patsy has been practising in the area of personal injury for Plaintiffs for over 20 years. She has pioneered many cases, being amongst one of the first lawyers to take on the tobacco industry for smoking related illness and death.
She has successfully undertaken many cases for conditions such as asbestos related illness, chemical induced illness, workplace injury and death, motor vehicle accident injuries and deaths.
She has an enviable track record in the area of medical negligence with special interest in nervous shock cases. Patsy has supported many families affected by the trauma associated with workplace death.
Patsy is on the Board of a number of not for profit organisations and is heavily involved in local community issues, supporting their legal requirements "pro bono". Patsy is renowned for her dedication to her clients and their rights and is passionate about social justice issues.
Patsy was recently awarded an OAM for her services to the community.
Patsy is married and is a mother of four.
